Cushchine Farm Cottage is located five minutes drive from Kaikoura town centre, the sea, mountains, Whale Watch, Dolphin Encounter, New World supermarket and i-Site, BUT you benefit from being in open countryside, on the very edge of town = PERFECT for a relaxing holiday !!!
Everything on the farm is grown organically. The grounds are spacious and we have 150+ animals in our Farm Park for your children to play with and hand and bottle-feed. Over the last few years, we've completely restored our beautiful cottage, carefully retaining many of its original features, so it's got an authentic, rustic, traditional feel, BUT with many modern features, eg: a modern shower room and there's a NEW log burner in the lounge.

The cottage is self-contained and will accommodate a large family in a warm cosy atmosphere.
Two Bedrooms: (max occupancy = 6 + baby in cot - see Q&A's below!)
(1) Up to 3, plus a baby = a double, plus a single and a travel porta-cot
(2) Up to 4 = a single bed, plus a double bottom bunk & single top bunk
(All bed linen is provided, including sheets, duvets & covers, pillows and cases)
Lounge = The large lounge is warm & cosy with a wood burner fire to keep you nice and warm and two comfy leather sofas to snuggle up on. There's a 42" widescreen plasma TV; digital Satellite TV service; a DVD player (our personal 500+ DVD collection is available for you to enjoy!) PLUS a cupboard stuffed with children's games and toys.

Kitchen = a typical farm kitchen, including a range of self catering equipment: cooker, microwave, hot plate, electric fry pan, griller, toaster, kettle and fridge/freezer. We also include FREE use of our outside gas BBQ.
Recycling bins are provided. We support Kaikoura's 100% recycling ambition by recycling as much as we possibly can, and ask that you help us separate and recycle the waste you produce.
FREE selection of breakfast items
We will provide a limited quantity of: tea, coffee, sugar, milk, breakfast cereal, bread, margarine, homemade jam, AND (subject to availability) seasonal eggs, seasonal fruit (for paying guests only). Please understand that the breakfast we provide is offered mainly for those guests who arrive late and miss the supermarket. If you have specific/particular needs, please add to what we provide.
Bathroom = a nice big shower and basin. There is a separate toilet (towels are provided - a bath towel and hand towel for each guest).
FREE use of bathroom robes and slippers = adult size only. If you'd like to keep them and take them with you: Robes = $50 each; slippers = $10 per pair.
Bed Linen & Towels = all you need is provided, and are washed in an eco-friendly 'sensitive' detergent, which contains no: phosphates, enzymes, fragrance or dyes. It is super-concentrated too, so less packaging and kinder to the environment.
Heating = is provided via a wood burner fire in the lounge. We provide FREE wood from our woodpile nearby (wintertime = a limited quantity is provided each day). The cottage is very cosy and warm in winter and wonderfully airy in summer. Just in case, there are two portable electric radiator heaters, a heater in the shower room, and some hot water bottles too.
Outside = the cottage has an ENORMOUS outdoor area, with plenty of space to sit in the sun, and/or watch the sun set, PLUS the WONDERFULL view of Mount Fyffe. Please use the FREE gas barbecue and enjoy sitting on the georgeous rimu picnic bench. The outdoor recreational area is wonderful for your children, with plenty of space for them to play, and includes an outdoor playhouse, swings, small trampoline, etc. The separate orchard is well established with many different fruit trees and two bench seats - a great place to sit and read a book.
Also included = your electricity - the hot water tank is on all the time!
Wireless Broadband = we have FREE wireless broadband wi-fi (wifi) available for rental cottage customers - please ask for the password

Kaikoura Farm Park = We offer FREE access to our on-site Animal Farm Park (during normal opening hours) AND as a bonus, your family are welcome to enjoy EXCLUSIVE access to our early morning animal feeding (approx: 8:15am), where you can help feed our 150+ animals. (All the animals gather round, it's chaos, only takes about twenty minutes, but amazing to see!)
Small children are welcome to enjoy a FREE daily ride on a pony (during park opening hours).
We ensure that our guests have a totally safe and relaxing holiday. We can asure you of a wonderful time.

HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS!
Pricing = our nightly rate includes two guests. All additional guests cost $20 extra, each, per night. Please use the availability checker (below) to confirm your dates and the nightly rate.
Max adults = the Farm Cottage sleeps up to six + baby, but is best enjoyed by up to four adults in its two bedrooms, plus up to three children + a baby! (We've learnt this through experience - the problems mainly come self-catering in the kitchen, sharing the bathroom and hot water!)
Wheelchair access = The Farm Cottage, its garden and our Farm Park are flat and mostly on one level, with the following exceptions: One doorway is too small (lounge to kitchen - there's another route which is ok!) There's one small step down to the bathroom and toilet. One wheelchair family had a special chair for showers which didn't fit through the shower door, despite it being a fairly large shower unit! Obviously, the gardens and our Farm Park get wet and muddy after rain, which would hamper progress in a wheelchair - we don't have many prepared (sealed) paths - sorry!
Babies = We charge $20 per night, because you'll be cooking for, and washing your baby, etc. The cottage includes: a porta-cot (PLEASE let us know if you need bedding); high chair and a portable changing unit with bath (you're welcome to bring/use your own if you prefer). The charge also includes disposal of your nappies/diepers, which Kaikoura's recycling service now charges us for!
Dogs = you can bring you dog with you, but there are a couple of things to think through... We have 100+ animals in our Farm Park, and most of them free range roam the site. Your dog mustn't be the chase and hassle type. Also, we've two 'entire' collie dogs ourselves, so yours must accept other strange dogs easily! Some cottage guests ask whether dogs have been in the rental cottage, so we don't allow dogs inside - sorry!
There's a medium sized dog kennel in the Cottage garden which you're welcome to use.

Transport = if you need picking up or dropping off in town, at any time during your stay with us, we've a 4x4 Land Rover Discovery that'll comfortably seat up to seven! We charge a nominal $15 per trip, per group! (please book in advance)
